Improving Lives update - June 2024

There are plenty of interesting news and feature pieces from across Longhurst Group.

Improving Lives update

Welcome to the latest edition of our stakeholder newsletter.

Since our last update, I’m pleased to say that we’re continuing to make progress in addressing some of the challenges we’ve been facing.

While we still have work to do, the changes we’ve introduced to create additional support to strengthen our workforce and enhance our repairs service is now bearing fruit.

I’m confident that we’re moving in the right direction and things are getting better as we work hard to ensure the services we provide to our customers are at the level we all expect.

Since our last update, we’ve lent our support to the National Housing Federation’s #PlanForHousing campaign, which is urging the next Government to ensure that affordable housing is at the forefront of the agenda and that long term solutions to the housing crisis are implemented.

Doing our bit to amplify this message, we recently took part in a Westminster roundtable event with Conservative MPs and housing sector leaders, and met with a local Labour MP in our region to discuss what the future might hold.

In this edition, you’ll find out about some of the brilliant work our customers are doing in their communities and why they’ve won a Community Heroes Award, one customer tells us how the Money Advice Team has helped him get his life back on track, and there’s an update about our Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund programme.

I hope you enjoy the summer and we'll be back in touch later in the year.

Julie Doyle, Longhurst Group Chief Executive.
