Money Advice Team helps change Mark's life
Our in-house Money Advice Team has had an incredible impact on the life of one of our customers.
Mark Wadsley, who lives at Friary Court, says his life has been transformed after working with Money Advisor Angie Noble.
He’d previously been living off a meagre Universal Credit payment after being benefit-capped. That’s when Angie stepped in and worked with Mark to sort out his finances.
Mark said: “Money was non-existent. I was in dire straits.
“I had no idea what it meant by being benefit-capped – I wondered how they could cap me when I hardly received anything anyway.
“That’s when the manager put me in touch with Angie, and I can’t praise her enough.
“She gave me a light at the end of the tunnel and helped me above and beyond what she needed to. I love her to bits for it and I can’t thank her enough.”
After securing Discretionary Housing Payment, the pair were successful with a Personal Independence Payment appeal, despite having to wait a year for the appeal to be heard.
This was successful and the payment was backdated a year, which meant Mark was no longer benefit-capped.
Angie’s support has meant Mark is now hundreds of pounds a month better off.
He added: “It wasn’t a quick fix, but I knew something was happening which helped me to relax as my anxiety and depression had been getting worse.
“Previously, I was having to cancel appointments with the doctor and at the hospital as I couldn’t afford taxis to get to them.
“Now I’m more comfortable financially, I can afford a taxi to get me to and from the appointments, so that’s had a major impact on my health and wellbeing.”
