Using AI to create musical masterpieces

Customers at our supported accommodation scheme in Sleaford have been trying their hand at innovative music sessions.

The Aritificial Intelligence Music Therapy sessions see customers writing song lyrics, using their life experiences as inspiration, before working with colleagues to utilise AI to turn them into songs in the genre of their choice.

This is just one of several programmes being run at Sleaford HRS, which also includes a free breakfast club, a weekly gardening club and a debating group.

Anna Cave, Service Manager, believes passionately in keeping customers busy and engaged as they work towards a future of independent living.

“Ninety percent of our customers normally have some kind of substance misuse issue or mental or physical health needs and aren’t in a position to find employment,” Anna said.

“Regular and consistent activities help reduce their boredom and improve their mood. Too much spare time can be quite a dangerous dynamic when in recovery.

“As it’s an informal setting, you find you’re able to have more of a trust built between staff and customers.

“They feel like they can share more and ask for help, whereas they might not have asked if they were in a formal support meeting.

“It’s important for any type of recovery to have meaningful use of time so we try to have something they can get involved in nearly every day.”
