Key information on Universal Credit
Customers may have recently received – or are due to receive - a Migration Notice telling them they need to move to Universal Credit.
This will have happened if one of your current benefits, such as Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance or Income related Employment Support Allowance have stopped.
Other benefits, such as Personal Independence Payment, will stay the same.
The Notice will tell you the date that your current benefits are due to end. This will be three months and a day after the Notice was issued.
By making a claim for Universal Credit before this date, your current benefits will be ended and your Universal Credit award will begin. If you fail to make your Universal Credit claim by this date, your current benefits will end, even if you meet the conditions of entitlement.
Please make sure you complete all the required information to ensure you don’t experience any financial hardship.
