We can beat fly-tipping together
We can beat fly-tipping together
We want to work with customers to tackle fly-tipping in the communities we serve.
To help us do this, we need you to report instances of fly-tipping and, if safe and possible to do so, gather evidence of who’s dumping rubbish.
Sukhvinder Kaur Gill, Housing Team Leader, said: “We work closely with our councils to provide cleaner, safer and environmentally friendly streets and communal spaces for those who live and work in our communities.
“One way that we try to achieve this is by asking residents to follow guidelines that are in place for rubbish disposal.
“Along with residents, we’re concerned about the ongoing problem of domestic rubbish and household items being dumped in various locations and we’re determined to do what we can to stop it.
“Please help us by reporting any incidents of fly-tipping that you witness or notice.”
Fly-tipping is when rubbish like building materials, old clothes or bulky items like furniture and electrical goods are dumped on the floor by the bins, near refuse centres, in communal spaces or on open land.
It’s a criminal offence for which offenders can be prosecuted. If you’re caught fly-tipping, you could face imprisonment, unlimited fines and lose access to the car or van you’ve been using to fly-tip, as well as risk losing your tenancy.
If you notice or witness a fly-tipping, please contact your local council in the first instance. If you have any evidence of who’s dumped the rubbish, please call us on 0300 111 4013 and press option 3 to speak to our Customer Services Team.
Alternatively, you can contact us via the website here longhurst[1]group.org.uk/contact-us
Most councils also offer a waste disposal service for large bulky items for a small fee. Please consider using this service if you have items you want to get rid of.
