Spending a day with our Employers Agent, Andrew
Andrew Eastland is an Employers Agent at Amplius. His role allows him to work from home, as well getting out and exploring our new housing developments.
We caught up with him on a spring day, to see what he got up to.
At the beginning of the day, I hop in the car and make the journey to one of our sites for a meeting with the wider team. Typically, if I’m not attending a development meeting then I’ll be visiting the plot to see how planned work is progressing.
Today, I’m off to Manning Road in Bourne, which is a development of 121 new homes for affordable rent, Shared Ownership and Rent to Buy.
During the meeting we discuss outstanding matters such as the specification, any design queries, technical problems and how we’re doing against the programme, including handover dates. We also walk the site together to look at the progress made and ensure the quality of work is of a good standard.
In my own time, I enjoy reading, playing video games, socialising and studying.
After the meeting I travel home. I’ll spend the rest of the day in my home office, where I can focus on the admin elements of the role.
Once I’ve had a spot of lunch, I begin writing up the minutes of the meeting – these cover key issues that were discussed and actions to take.
After this, I write a report for the Project Manager, detailing how the project is performing in terms of costs, programme, health and safety, quality, and risk.
For the remainder of the day, I catch up on emails and prepare tomorrow’s agenda. I'm also in my final year of a degree apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management, so I also find time to focus on this.
After work, I go for a walk to get some fresh air and to reflect on today's progress.
