Aids and adaptations in your home
We provide an aids and adaptations service to support you - or a member of your household - in the event of chronic issues because of mobility, dexterity, mental health or any ailment affecting independence.
We have a team of independent living assessors who carry out holistic person-centred assessments in your home to assess the need for minor works. Our team can be mobilised much more quickly than if you sought an occupational therapy appointment through your local authority.
Following an assessment and receipt of the referral from the independent living assessors, minor aids and adaptations can be organised and we can fund the works using our own contractors.
For any major works, a disabled facilities grant (DFG) would need to be sought. To do this, an occupational therapist would need to assess you and provide the local authority with their recommendation. A financial test of resources would then also be undertaken with the local authority.
We’ll still be able to assist and are still involved with the DFG process by providing permission, reviewing plans and monitoring the case throughout, although the local authority is responsible for DFG cases.
