Did you know that the National Careers Service is a free service that adults can access for information, advice and guidance about careers, courses and work?
Here are some of the ways they can help you:
- Advice line
You can speak with a careers advisor on 0800 100 900 from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 5pm on Saturday and bank holidays. Calls are free from landlines and most mobile numbers. If you don't want to call them, you can also chat online, ask them to call you or communicate by email or post.
- Help to get a job
Their website covers every stage of job hunting, including how to find vacancies, make effective applications and improve your interview technique. Visit the National Careers Service for more details.
- Identify your skills and interests
Use their ‘skills assessment’ page to assess your strengths and the types of jobs that might be suitable for you.
- Find out about new careers
If you’d like to know more about different careers, their ‘explore careers’ page has over 800 job profiles, which include helpful pointers on how to get started.
- Search for a course
Use their ‘find a course’ page to locate colleges and training providers in your area.
