Gemma thanks Pam for all her support

A customer has thanked one of Money Advisors for helping her sort out her finances ahead of starting university.

Single mum Gemma Prange, 37, began studying Law at university in September, giving up her career in
dentistry. Following a call to the Income Team to discuss rent at the start of lockdown, Gemma was referred to Money Advisor Pam Malhi for help with Universal Credit claims. Pam worked with Gemma, who said she was made to feel ‘so comfortable’ talking about her finances, to calculate the best dates to apply for Universal Credit to ensure she didn’t receive two salary payments in a single assessment period.

Gemma said: “Pam took a lot of time and worked through lots of different scenarios with me, including if I was to become my daughter’s full-time carer."

“We had various conversations and Pam was really, really helpful and incredibly patient."

Her knowledge of Universal Credit and tax credits really helped me out. She advised me of things that the Universal Credit Officer didn’t tell me about, so I knew to expect to receive less money than I would have done.

“I’m extremely grateful to Pam. Being in lockdown, things are odd anyway but to be able to strike up a rapport with somebody I’ve never even met and be so comfortable talking about my finances was great.”
