John
John accessed services at The New Haven after being asked to leave the family home. It was the second time he had been a resident at the scheme.
While he was there, John managed to find part-time employment. An application was made to the Rent Deposit Scheme (RDS) as colleagues at The New Haven had found John private accommodation.
The RDS is a scheme Local Authorities have to help people to pay their deposit to a private landlord.
Unfortunately, due to an incident at work, he was dismissed from his job and was unable to move into the private accommodation and the RDS application had to be withdrawn.
John was then referred to Peterborough Foyer scheme – our supported accommodation for up to 50 young people. Following a successful interview, his application was accepted and he was placed on a waiting list for a room.
To allow for a room to become available, John’s stay at The New Haven was extended beyond the usual 12 weeks. Once a room became available at Peterborough Foyer, John moved on to continue his journey.
