Sarah
Sarah arrived at The New Haven - our 12-week short stay direct access hostel - after being made homeless due to £3,000 of rent arrears.
She was struggling with her rent due to the spare room tax and, when she moved to The New Haven, she was referred to support services who could help with her finances.
While Sarah was at The New Haven, colleagues from Longhurst Group supported her with an application for a Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP), which helped to pay off her debt.
Another application for DHP was made for rent in advance to prepare her for moving into independent accommodation.
Sarah is now in a stable situation in her one-bedroom flat.
