Longhurst Group celebrates improvement in Top 50 Biggest Builders survey ranking
04 July 2019
Longhurst Group has once again been recognised as one of the largest builders in the housing sector.
We have been named the 23rd biggest builder, following a survey by Inside Housing magazine.
This is up on our ranking of 31st in 2018 after we completed a total of 580 homes in 2018/19 – an investment of more than £70 million.
In 2019/20, we have set out a plan to complete an additional 632 homes.
Nick Worboys, Director of Development and Sales at Longhurst Group, said: “It’s brilliant news that our development programme puts us as one of the largest builders in the sector.
“We are committed to investing in and delivering new homes. We have an ambitious programme to provide quality homes that people want to live in while making a real difference in our communities.
“Across the Group we work hard to achieve our vision and our target for new homes in 2019/20 further demonstrates our commitment to investing in and improving lives.”
Earlier this year, the Group and its partners at Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) were announced as receiving £71.7m in extra Government funding to build more affordable homes after being selected by Homes England as strategic partners.
Together, the organisations own Pitch; which was formed in 2005 to provide development services to other Housing Associations and Local Authorities to enable the delivery of more affordable homes for families and people in housing need.
Of the 580 homes completed in 2018/19, 251 were delivered as an affordable rented product and more than 250 properties were built for shared ownership.
Almost 200 of the properties were built using modern methods of construction, placing us in the top ten for delivering homes in this way.
In total, from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2024, we are aiming to complete more than 3,600 new homes.
