Longhurst Group is proud to have provided one of our local charities with a £2,500 funding boost

Our vision is to improve the lives of our customers and the communities we serve and this is a perfect example of how we work with local partners to achieve it.

We presented Boston Women’s Aid with the cheque after selecting it as a beneficiary of the town’s recent 2019 Dragon Boat Race, which we sponsored.

Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer, Rob Griffiths, made the donation alongside Nick Worboys, our Director of Development and Sales.

The 2019 Dragon Boat Festival raised almost £7,000 in total, which was split among other local charities.

Rob said: “The Dragon Boat Festival was a great event for the town and we were very proud to be the headline sponsor, which enabled us to support the fantastic work of Boston Women’s Aid.

“Our vision is to improve the lives of our customers and the communities we serve and this is a perfect example of how we work with local partners to achieve it.

“We’re a very proud member of the Make A Stand campaign, which was launched by the Chartered Institute of Housing – in partnership with Women’s Aid – to tackle domestic abuse and so we’re delighted to be supporting our local branch.

“We will once again be sponsoring the Dragon Boat race in 2020, aiming to raise more much-needed funds for deserving local charities.”

Sarah Smith, Operations Manager at Boston Women’s Aid, said the charity was very grateful for our support.

“I would like to thank everyone that has been involved in the Dragon Boat race and in particular Longhurst Group for choosing us to receive the funds,” she said.

“As a domestic abuse service that is purely grant funded, we do find it increasingly difficult to provide everything that families need when they initially make contact with us.

“Donations such as this make all the difference and ensure we can provide the very best for our families.

“I would like to thank Longhurst Group and everyone involved in the event once again for the support.”

Boston Women’s Aid offer advice and support to victims of domestic abuse through encouragement and understanding with a non-judgemental attitude.

The service is confidential and run by skilled workers who have a wide range of experience.

In the run-up to Christmas, the charity is in need of donations that can help the festive period that bit easier for the women and children who benefit from their support.

This can be Christmas presents, cleaning materials for the safe house or long-life food products – all will be gratefully received.
