Longhurst Group residents given Easter gifts after party cancelled due to coronavirus

Residents in Grimsby have received Easter gifts after a planned party was postponed due to coronavirus.
Those living at Vicarage Gardens and Vicarage Lawns had been looking forward to the Easter party organised by Lisa Johnson, Older People's Floating Support Worker, before the pandemic struck.
But, determined not to let them down, Lisa decided to deliver an Easter egg and card to each resident to lift their spirits during the difficult times.
She said: “I visit lots of the residents and support a lot of them on a daily basis. We have regular activities like bowling on Mondays and coffee morning on a Wednesday.
“I also do Christmas and Easter parties, but all of these had to be cancelled a couple of weeks ago due to coronavirus to make sure residents and myself were safe.
“They were gutted, but all understood why I had to do it.
“I’d already bought the eggs for the party, so when I cancelled it, I decided I would get some cards, which I wrote up in the office, before calling each resident to tell them I would be delivering eggs and a card.
“We made sure we all stayed a safe distance away from each other, but they were so grateful for them!
“Some got really emotional and couldn’t thank me enough. It made me emotional too and I am glad I did it.
“When this is all over, I’ll probably do fish and chips for them all too to make up for cancelling the activities.”
