Longhurst Group submits plans for 135 affordable homes in Boston

Longhurst Group is delighted to have submitted plans for more than 100 affordable homes in Boston.

We’ve lodged the plans for 135 homes on Toot Lane in the town.

The development will be made up of 12 one-bedroom homes, 69 two-bedroom properties, 50 three-bedroom units and a further four with four-bedrooms.

Marcus Keys, Executive Director of Growth and Development, said: “We’re delighted to have submitted our plans to develop this area of Toot Lane and bring more much-needed affordable housing to Boston.

In line with our Improving Lives strategy, we’re committed to providing the homes people want, where they’re needed most. We know there’s a need for housing of this type in the borough, so this development would help to address this.

“There’s also good variety in the type of housing we’re proposing for this site, which’ll help to open home ownership opportunities to a larger number of local people.

“If approved, these plans would also re-enforce our commitment to Boston and the surrounding region, where we already have an office, more than 500 existing homes and current developments at Heron Park and Norfolk Street.

“We also have The Spires in Great Gonerby and Middlegate in Kirton which, combined, will create an additional 180 new homes.”

The proposed development at Toot Lane would see the properties made available for Shared Ownership, Rent to Buy and social rent, with a possible start on site early next year, subject to planning.

If given the go-ahead, the development will be built by the Group’s contractor, D Brown Building Contractors.

Adam Mayer, Commercial Director at D Brown Building Contractors, added: “We’re excited to have reached this key project milestone alongside our delivery partners at Longhurst Group.

The planning application represents over 18 months of collaborative working between us to ensure a scheme is put forward that both fulfils local housing need as well as promotes high levels of architectural interest and sustainability.

“We’d therefore also like to thank Boston Borough Council for their continued and valued input as well as our design partners at Lincs Design Consultancy.

“D Brown are a local construction company with longstanding roots already in Boston through employment and supply chains, and particularly thank Longhurst Group for continuing to support SMEs such as ourselves so that between us we can proudly continue to support local economies through our work.”

If approved, Toot Lane will be part-funded through a grant from Homes England as part of our strategic partnership.
