Longhurst Group successful in tender for Extra Care contracts at two Peterborough services
22 February 2021
Longhurst Group has been successful in securing contracts to deliver care and support services at a further two locations in Peterborough.
We already run three extra care schemes in the city and have now won the contracts to deliver the care services at Bishopsfield Court and St Edmunds Court, both of which are owned by Housing21.
This success means we’ll now be providing care at all five of Peterborough City Council’s funded extra care services for older people.
Deborah Latham, Director of Care and Support, said: “We heard of our success just before Christmas, and we’ve been working away at top speed ever since preparing for the new contract starting on 1 March.
This is very exciting news, as we already run three of our own extra care services in the city, meaning even more people will benefit from our high standards of care as a result of us winning the tenders.
“Additionally, as a result of our very competitive price, the Council’s social care budget will go further.
“As a people-focussed organisation, we’ve been busy establishing an excellent relationship with the 64 colleagues who’ll be transferring to us so that everything goes smoothly and they feel welcomed into our Group.
Our preparations are going well, with our new colleagues keen and pleased to be joining us.
“I’m delighted to be welcoming them to the Group and it’s great news that they’re looking forward to joining our organisation and delivering the care and support that they know we provide elsewhere.
"Together with the staff, we’ll ensure all our new customers are at the centre of the heartfelt service we’ll deliver.”
Colleagues are now meeting customers living at the two schemes to ensure all their care and support needs have been fully assessed ahead of 1 March and are working closely with Housing21’s Scheme Managers to deliver seamless housing, care and support both through and beyond the transfer.
