Longhurst Group welcomes the news that plans for a landmark housing scheme in Cambridgeshire have been approved.
Proposals for 89 new homes at Waterbeach Barracks have been given the green light as part of an ambitious 6,500-home redevelopment of the site.
The Group is proud to be the affordable housing partner at the scheme after being selected by developer Urban & Civic, in consultation with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, which owns the former barracks and airfield.
We’ll deliver 28 affordable homes as part of the first phase, in partnership with Stonebond Properties and South Cambridgeshire District Council’s housing team.
The Group’s Executive Director of Growth and Development, Marcus Keys, said: “We’re delighted that plans for the first phase of homes have been approved for this fantastic development and we’re proud to be playing our part in bringing it to fruition.
To have been selected as the delivery partner of affordable homes on a scheme of this prominence was a significant achievement for the Group and testament to our standing as one of the leading housing providers in the Midlands and East of England.
“We now look forward to working with our fellow development partners to deliver this first phase of affordable homes and help meet the needs of families across Waterbeach and the surrounding area.”
When complete, the development will also provide five new schools, retail, commercial and green space as well as new cycle connections and a sustainable travel hub.
