Thirty new affordable homes could be built in a village near Peterborough after plans were lodged with the local council.
Leading housing provider Longhurst Group, which owns and manages more than 23,500 homes across the Midlands and East of England, has submitted the plans for the homes on land off Thorney Road in Newborough with Peterborough City Council.
If approved, one, two and three-bedroom homes will be built and will be made available for affordable rent, Rent to Buy and shared ownership.
The plans also include proposals for car parking and green open space, as well as improved pedestrian routes back into the village.
Marcus Keys, Longhurst Group’s Executive Director of Growth and Development, said: “We’re delighted to have submitted our plans to Peterborough City Council and we look forward to its decision in due course.
As a Group, we’re keen to support housing provision in rural areas as well as urban locations, and we know there’s a need for affordable housing in this particular area.
“In line with our Improving Lives vision, we’re committed to providing the homes people want, where they’re needed most and this development will help us achieve that aim.
By providing a mix of tenures on the development, we’ll be able to offer housing opportunities to a wide range of local people and families.
“We’ll now work with our partners and the council as the planning process takes its course and I look forward to a decision being made on our plans in the near future.”
