POSTPONED - Longhurst Group joins forces for community waste amnesty
11 March 2020
PLEASE NOTE - Due to the current situation regarding Coronavirus, this event has been postponed. We will bring you information regarding the rearranged event as soon as we have it.
Longhurst Group is proud to be taking part in a waste amnesty day in Northamptonshire.
We have joined forces with several partner organisations to stage the one-day event in Irthlingborough on Saturday, 21 March.
The event will allow residents – including our customers – to clear out their houses and gardens of general waste, white goods and scrap metal and dispose them at pre-arranged drop-off points.
Hannah King, Housing Officer, said: “We know that disposing of waste can be tricky if our customers don’t have transport to get to the tip.
“We want people to be able to manage their tenancies and that includes keeping their homes in good order so, providing this opportunity to customers and other residents will help make this easier.
“As a Group, we’ve been involved in this project from its inception. We hope that by staging events like this, we can help people take pride in their homes and communities.
“Residents of all of the properties in the area are invited to participate – it doesn’t matter if they are our customers, Grand Union customers, private renters or owner occupiers.
“We hope that the community can come together to improve the area, regardless of tenure.”
The event is being jointly organised by East Northamptonshire Council, Irthlingborough Town Council, Northants Police, Orbit, Grand Union Housing Group and The Co-Operative Central England, as well as ourselves.
Anyone wishing to dispose of items should bring them to Allen Road car park between 9.30am and 11.30am and Crow Hill Community Centre car park from 1.45pm to 4pm on Saturday, 21 March.
A team of people will be on hand to help if needed and there will also be community litter picks around the area.
