Reindeer visit the highlight of The Pavilions' annual Christmas Fete
04 December 2019
Residents, their families and colleagues at one of our extra care schemes in Peterborough got into the festive spirit as a reindeer visited their Christmas Fete.
The Pavilions held its annual event, with the highlight undoubtedly a visit from George the Reindeer.
Residents and their families fed George, had pictures taken with him and also took part in raffles, auctions, cake stalls and a tombola as they raised more than £1,100 for the residents’ fund.
Kerrie Casey, Scheme Manager, said: “The residents and their families were looking forward to the return of George as we had him come to visit the scheme last year.
“The looks on their faces when they saw George was amazing and of course he went down extremely well with the families and friends of all the residents also.
“They were able to have their pictures taken with George by a professional photographer, they could feed him the moss he loves to eat and also pet and stroke him.
“Having George at the Christmas Fete really added to the Christmas spirit and the engagement that both residents and colleagues, as well as visitors, have with him is an absolute joy to see.
“Knowing that we have gone that extra mile to make things even more special for residents at this time of year means a lot.
“It was also great to raise more than £1,100 – with more still to come in – for the residents’ fund.
“We will certainly be doing this again next year and I believe we have re-booked George already!”
One resident, Kathleen Friend, said she really enjoyed the day.
She said: “I don’t come out of my flat much nowadays, but I was really looking forward to meeting George the Reindeer.
“I did go out and I really enjoyed all the fun of the day.”
