Sarah’s delight as her home is made more energy-efficient

“The house is definitely warmer now.”
Sarah, who lives in Nottingham, is pleased with the outcome of energy efficiency works at her home.
Despite being somewhat wary when she was first told her home qualified for energy efficiency improvement works through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) project, she admits she’s pleased to have had it done.
“I’ve had a new roof, loft insulation, internal and external wall insulation, new windows and new doors,” she said.
“Initially, I wasn’t looking forward to it. I can be quite anxious about having people in my home.
“In hindsight, it really wasn’t that bad. I’m much happier now that the work has been done and the workers themselves were great.
“The house is definitely warmer now. When my mum used to visit, she’d sit at the kitchen table and feel a draught coming through the windows.

“It could be very chilly, but now, I can feel the heating in this room.
“With it being winter at the minute, I’m still having the heating on, but I’ve turned the temperature down as none of the windows are draughty and the house is keeping the heat in.
“When we come out of the colder months, I’m sure I’ll see a difference in my bills.”
Having overcome her initial worries about the project, Sarah would encourage other customers to take up the work if they’re told their home qualifies.
She added: “I need to redecorate parts of the house again, so there’s work to do, but if anyone asked me, I’d tell them to snap it up because it’ll make a big difference to their house.
“Definitely find out what you can get done – you’ll be glad you did.”
